IMPORTANT ADVICE
I wrote to all parents and carers a few weeks ago in my January Newsletter to inform you that there had been several near misses on Gunter Road, where parents had driven onto pavements in order to park.
I would again ask all parents who drive their children to school to be particularly vigilant when pulling in and parking. I understand that there is limited space on the road, and time is often short in the morning, but pavements are for people, so cars should not be driving or parking on them.
Please also watch your speed—we do not have a school crossing warden so many children will be crossing the road without adult guidance.
If you are walking with your child, please be extra vigilant for dangerous driving, and report to the police any vehicles which may be posing a threat. Simply write down their registration number and phone 101, extension 3 to speak to an officer.
I have reported the latest episodes to West Midlands Police and they will be present during peak times over the coming weeks, and will take action if cars are obstructing the pavement, or residents driveways.
The council have also been requested to provide a parking warden patrol, and will again issue tickets where necessary.
Let’s keep Gunter safe!
Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
