PARENT GROUP UPDATE JULY 2019
Dear all parents, carers, grandparents, friends and family,
I would like to start by personally thanking you all. Bernie and I took the reins of Gunter’s Parent Group at the start of this academic year, we didn’t know what we were doing but had a great deal of support from our predecessors Mrs May and Pat – a massive thanks needs to go to them too for their continued support for many years and hours commitment to the Parent Group.
A hop, skip and a jump later we are in July, breaking up for six glorious weeks of no school, and we have achieved so very much. We have learnt so much and now have actual roles [chair – myself, treasurer – Bernie & secretary – Keat] and many many more volunteers willing to give up their time to help with often mundane tasks in order to stage such fantastic events as those that we have had. Collectively the time volunteered to Gunter’s PTA stands at well over 450 hours!!! That doesn’t include the selling of Mother’s and Father’s day gifts by Mrs May, Pat and the children on the School Council.
We have generated a staggering £3000 profit with thanks to your wonderful selves.
Without your huge generosity we wouldn’t have been able to plunge £2000 worth of equipment into the school in the shape of art resources, atlases, teacher resources, treats for the children and much, much more.
Next year, with your help, we plan to be bigger and better than ever! We have a year under our belts and with growing confidence we strive to give our children some great experiences and memories!
I wish you all a fabulous summer break,
Meg Arnold

End of term uniform swap - bring in your outgrown uniform and swap it for bigger sizes
Why we need your help.....
We want to help Gunter give the best to our children, and to do that we need as many parents, carers, grandparents and family members as possible to join us.
We want to bring back the community spirit to our school, and create as much fun for the children as we can!
How you can help
Can you spare 30 minutes to help set up the school hall for the Halloween disco?
Or an hour to wrap some Christmas presents?
Can you help sell raffle tickets for 10 minutes in the playground either before or after school?
Or just share some ideas......
Who we are.....
Meg Arnold Mum to Dexter in Reception and one year old Ivy
Bernie Rawlins Mum to James in Year 2 and Oliver in Reception. Recently appointed Parent Governor.
We both have a passion for our children and their future, and want to help Gunter shine by involving as many parents as we can in bringing in some much needed fun as well as funds to the school.
Our first meeting will be on Monday 24th September and everyone is welcome. Just come along to the Children’s Centre entrance from 1pm, have a chat and a cuppa, share some ideas, and make new friends. And most importantly, help us help our children!
We will be looking at lots of new ways to help benefit the school, our children and us the parents, including the uniform swap at the end of every term and fundraising ideas that won’t cost anyone a penny!
We look forward to seeing you there!
Meg & Bernie
You can contact us at parents@gunter.bham.sch.uk, catch us in the playground, or leave a message at the office.
This year's Valentine Disco was not only enjoyed by the children, but raised a huge £313.52 towards our school fund - thank you to the children who attended, parents who supported, and most of all to PARENT GROUP for organising another super event.
Without them, Gunter would be a much poorer place in every sense of the word
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
