Our curriculum is based on the National Curriculum 2013. Cross-curricular themes are developed where links enhance & expand the children’s studies. The principal subjects for each theme are shown, though other subjects will often be included especially English & mathematics – these opportunities are detailed in our full syllabus.
Key stage 2 classes have a science theme every half term. History / geography are covered in alternate half-terms. Art/d.t is often applied to the themes, with additional time for developing skills / other work, (e.g. Christmas). Music, foreign language and PE have their own independent schemes of work. Religious Education is described in the Birmingham LA ‘Agreed Syllabus’.
If required the themes may be completed at different times to those stated above - occasionally themes may change when there is advantage to do so, (e.g. when the Olympic Games occur).
