GIFTED AND TALENTED GUIDANCE
Nationally, pupils in the school’s own able cohort are referred to as Gifted and Talented pupils. DFE guidelines stated that: “Gifted and Talented pupils are those pupils who achieve, or have the ability to achieve, at a level significantly in advance of the average for their year group.” It is generally accepted that this would represent between 5 and 10% of each year group, with variations from year to year.
